Dayle Ann Stratton

Dayle Ann Stratton studied art at college while majoring in science, and spent a year at the Oregon School of Arts and Crafts studying ceramic art. She considers this her grounding in art. "For me, it turned out to be a good thing, because then I was left on my own to explore technique, and style on my own," she says. While working as an environmental manager, she continued to learn through classes and workshops, hanging out at museums and galleries, and "just doing art". In 2006, she began working in soft pastels.

“I can't remember a time in my life I wasn't making art. For me, it is a kind of journal, exploring my world, using art to open my eyes. Anything could become art, and the art itself becomes a story to share with other people. Color, shape, and form fascinate me, and pastels allow me to express these better than any other medium. I am still exploring, and always will be.”

Dayle Ann lives in Brandon, Vermont, in a little house that became a studio, and shows at the Brandon Artists Guild gallery ("The BAG").
