Joyce Kahn

I came to art in middle age. As a child and young adult, I grew up with the misconception that an art gene was part of one's genetic make-up... or not. Putting myself in the latter category delayed my delving into painting. With the encouragement of several outstanding and gifted teachers, I started on my journey and haven't looked back. My greatest joy is being outdoors painting the landscape in summertime, creating visual reminders of the places I've been, giving an impression of what it was that captivated me. In the winter time I content myself with painting the wonderful forms and colors of natural or man-made objects. My great love is color. I could never be a black and white illustrator. Painting has become as important to me as breathing. I can't be without it.
