Ann Coleman
A student of art from an early age, Ann Coleman did her degree work at Salzburg College, Austria, the Salzburg Art Academy and Skidmore College where she received a BS in Studio Art. Since that time Ann has focused primarily on watercolors and pastels; her works have been displayed throughout the eastern U.S. A resident of a small community in southern Vermont, Ann indulges in other passions: skiing, sailing and flower gardening, which naturally show up as subjects of her vibrant paintings. Her works include an impressive array of finely detailed portraitures done in pastel. Ann is always open to discussing new ideas for commissioned works.
"God must have painted my genes - the artist in me has always been there. As a young student I was blessed with teachers who recognized my talent and helped me to develop it. I paint what moves me. Whether its water, skies, flowers, landscapes or people . . . Most often its color and light and the way Mother Nature orchestrates herself that is my inspiration. The same goes for my passion for gardening. I like to then organize, compose and capsulize for that "Yes" feeling . I know I've gotten it when it works for my heart and my eye. I love color-the bolder the better- just like when I used to play piano- my favorites were the big sound of Rachmoninoff or a bold Chopin scherzo. I like diversity, its what keeps life exciting!!!" - Ann
In 2006 Ann realized a life long dream and opened her own Gallery where she displays and sells her brilliant pastels. Her focus is: Local Vermont Scenes and Landscapes, and Gardens images. She features Originals & Giclee Prints.
